The common raw materials of organic fertilizer production are mainly crop straw, livestock manure, etc. There are requirements for the moisture content of these two raw materials. What is the specific range? The following is an introduction for you.
When the water content of the material cannot meet the requirements of fertilizer fermentation, the water must be regulated. The appropriate water content is 50–70% of the raw material humidity, and that means when your hand grip, a little liquid appears in your hand seam, but not drop, that is the best.
Requirements for straw and other materials: for materials containing a large number of crop straw, the appropriate water content can make the material water absorption expansion, is conducive to the decomposition of microorganisms. However, too high water content affects the aeration of the material stack, which can easily lead to anaerobic state and inhibit the activity of specific microorganisms.
Requirements for livestock manure: the livestock manure with water content less than 40% and the feces with relatively high water content are mixed and piled up for 4–8 hours, so that the water content is adjusted within the appropriate range before adding fertilizer starter.
